Integrated Electronic Systems Lab
The Integrated Electronic Systems Labs offers a modern education in the field of electronic circuits, electronic design automation, microprocessor design, design of application specific integrated circuits and System-on-chip design. The education follows both scientific and industry standards; e.g. industry standards such as hardware description languages (Verilog, VHDL, SystemC) or CAD-platforms (Cadence, Synopsys, MentorGraphics) are part of the curriculum.
Current research activities cover integration aspects of mobile communication systems, System-on-chip design, Hardware/Software Codesign, Printed electronics, System modelling, Rapid Prototyping and dynamically reconfigurable architectures.
The infrastructure of the Integrated Electronic Systems Lab is well suited for these challenges by using state-of-the-art CAD software and modern lab equipment for measurements. The designed integrated circuits are fabricated on industry semiconductor technologies via foundry services. For non-silicon based technologies (e.g. organics or anorganic semiconductors) we are cooperating with partners. The resulting ICs are then integrated in the respective application environments (e.g. mechatronics, communication systems).
